Takashimaya New York was the famed Fifth Avenue flagship of the Japanese department store, selling an exquisitely curated assortment of artisan crafted wares imbued with an Asian aesthetic.
Takashimaya became a haven for decorators and tastemakers, and our branding - from the opening image brochure to the closing advertising - was key in creating the image of the store.
During our decade long relationship we oversaw all of their marketing output: catalogs, advertising, development of private label goods, packaging, promotional print materials, etc. We met annually to formulate marketing objectives for the year, then advised them on the best ways to maximize their budgets so that they could convey the specialty character of their brand within their limited means.
To elevate the stock componentry used for the primary packaging in the Takasimaya private label cosmetics and frangrance program, MW created a signature packaging progam of folding cartons that reveal the 't' logo, and ultrasuede pouches with pinked edges and a woven ribbon label for the Parfum. The cosmetic marketing materials combined the earthy neutral color cosmetics with a series of minimal refined natural still life photos.
